When I Was New
When I Was New
Posted: 6-2007A little over a year ago, I was born at the Marin Humane Society in California, which I suggest you visit if you live in the Bay Area. I was adopted to a family, but they weren't able to keep me (their lives got too hectic). So I was sent back to the shelter.
I was at the shelter for a while... hoping for nice people to come adopt me. In the last week of June, two very nice people came to my shelter. They looked around and told the voulenteers they wanted to see me and another dog (Flint)/
Frist, they took Flint for a long walk and a great romp. They really liked him... I knew I had to be on my best-est behavior. When it was finaly my turn, I walked out into the yard where these two people were waiting.
I walked over to one of the people, who was kneeling to say "hi," and put my head on her knee, 'pet me please,' I thought. She did and I waged my tail. We went for a long walk around the grounds. I didn't pull on my leash, and I didn't bark at anyone. They let me sniff things, but I was so happy to be walking with people, I did my best to stay right with them.
As luck would have it, they took me home. I rode in a station wagon and stared at all the cars on the road, (it was over an hour's drive). We went to the pet store... and wow do they have great smelling stuff. I got a bed, food, a chew toy and even a furry squeaky toy.
I'm loving my new home and my new people. I'm so tired I think I'll curll up a go to sleep now.
